Lovitt & Touché employees, friends and family members increased their heart rates while participating in the 2016 Phoenix Heart Walk on Saturday, March 19th. This was the second year Lovitt & Touché laced up their sneakers and participated in the event.
The American Heart Association’s 2016 Heart Walk kicked off in Downtown Phoenix and raised over 1.6 million dollars.
Heart disease and stroke are leading causes of death in the United States. This event, which includes a 3 mile walk, raises money for the American Heart Association’s research and education programs.
If you missed the walk – here’s some quick advice on what you can do to fight heart disease and stroke.
Weight control and regular exercise are critical for keeping your heart in shape—but the food you eat may matter just as much. A heart-healthy diet can reduce your risk of heart disease or stroke by 80%. By understanding which foods are healthiest for your heart, you may be able to lower cholesterol, prevent or manage heart disease and high blood pressure, and take greater control over the quality and length of your life.
Why is that so important? Consider these numbers — here in Phoenix, heart disease and stroke account for about one of every three deaths. And every 25 seconds, someone in the U.S. has a coronary event. For additional information please visit: http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/
